When people think of teens, the first words that come to their head are disrespectful, disobedient, lazy, mean, rebellious, careless, etc. Why do people put this image into their head? Not all the teenagers in the world are disrespectful, lazy, careless, mean, and rebellious. When have people gotten this idea of teens. These stereotypes only touch upon a small group of teens. When people think of a teen boy they think of a guy that only wants to hook up with girls and does not care abut school. Most boys that I know care about their grades and future. They have good and respectful relationship with girls, but why do people think of us in this way? The lack of experience is one thing that teens lack. We have yet to live and go through all of the things that adults go through. What have we done to them? The greatest teen of all time is Joan of Arc. She was brave and stood up for what she believed in, but we rarely hear about these kinds of teens. We never hear about the teens that change the world and do good for others, like Nick D'Aloisio. Nick taught himself to create apps at the age of 12. His intellect and creativity has help p many people. When adults look at us they automatically think that we are immature. I do not think that only adults and the media adds to the stereotypes, but teens do also. Teens sometimes put on faces and act like people that are not. For example, in J.D. Salinger's novel, Catcher in the Rye, Holden throughout the book acts like e person that he is not. He constantly talks about the flaws of others, but he never looks at himself. We need to help and break the stereotypes down. We need to prove all of the people wrong. Teenagers in the world are still working to find their way in the world. Once teens find themselves as adults then you can judge us, but until then help to guide us. Instead adults and society talk about all of the bad things that we do. What will you do to prove others wrong?
